Poem by Jorge Guillén Muerte: para ti no vivo.

Ejemplos 04:23
Soy eco de algo; Lo estrechan mis brazos siendo aire, Lo miran mis ojos siendo sombra, Lo besan mis labios siendo sueño. He amado, ya no amo más; He reído, tampoco río.

DESCORAZONAR

This record has been a long time coming. Finished on October 23rd 2013 and written way before that. One or two songs even date back to '08/'09. It was a record full of "firsts" for me. Obviously I wrote all the music but this time I recorded, mixed and did the artwork too. Which was quite a departure from what I had gotten accustomed to in previous bands. But it's what this record needed, because in a way it was so much more personal than all previous work I had released.

At the time I was immensely invested in and inspired by Spanish pre-civil war poetry. By poets from the renowned "Generation '27". If you're interested and want to know more back story (I sure urge you to) here's a short summary on it www.classicspanishbooks.com/20th-cent-generation-of-27.html.

So, the vision for this record was to make contemporary indie pop songs for a handful of 100 year old Spanish poems from the aforementioned poets. It resulted in a kind of song and melody writing that I had not done before, which took me by surprise. With even hints of experimentalism here and there because of a certain organic freedom the songs gave me. In hindsight it is surreal to see that singing in Spanish and having just a slightly different approach and influence created something that really stands out in my personal discography. Especially because it was not intentional at all, in fact I remember being really adamant about not wanting the songs to sound too "Spanish" to refrain from the obvious and cliche melody writing. I genuinely just wanted to make a fluent combination of those two different worlds. I feel it turned out really well and I'm very happy to finally release it.

I hope you enjoy. Thank you.
